The first conference ever dedicated to threat modeling. Chris was part of the team that founded it and emceed the inaugural edition, giving the opening and closing remarks and presenting the first Adam Shostack Award. His engagement with the conference ended after that edition.
ThreatModCon ran the day after OWASP Global AppSec DC 2023, in the same city, and was the first time the threat modeling community had a conference of its own. Chris opened it and closed it. The opening is billed by the organisers as a keynote, but it is a shared panel — him alongside Adam Shostack, Brook Schoenfield, Matthew Coles, Seba Deleersnyder, Tanya Janca, Robert Hurlbut and John Taylor — so it is a host’s welcome rather than a solo keynote, and it is described that way here deliberately.
